From
the Superintendent’s Desk:
“We
Want Miracles”
Last year “We Want Miracles” was
the topic on the District Unit #3 webpage. Because I received so
many positive comments about that invitation to create miracles, I
want to have it remain as the focus for the 2009-2010 school year
also. We plan to achieve that goal by following these six steps:
-
Do good and
you’ll feel good. Each of us can gain satisfaction by doing what
is right and encouraging others to follow that example. We need
to be of service to children and others.
-
The best
never rest. It takes very little extra effort to get the best
out of ourselves and others. By modeling extra effort, our
students will soon understand that our expectation for them is
to give their best also.
-
Treat others
with respect. It is important that we are all respected for what
we do for kids, knowing that at the end of the day we took care
of our students.
-
The impact
you have on others is the reward. Words of encouragement, a
smile when things aren’t going well and the acknowledgement of a
job well done can create an atmosphere of success that helps to
support students in all their challenges. The reward is in
developing relationships that will last forever.
-
Live the
Golden Rule. The example that we set for students will be a
model for them to follow. Through our example, we will encourage
all students to treat others as they would like to be treated.
-
Fear nothing
except to waste the moment. We all need to realize how important
we are in the lives of our students and look to everyday as a
new day - making each day better than the last. Time is a
special gift that we are given to use to its fullest.
As a summer reading project, all
employees were given a copy of “TEACHERS CHANGE LIVES 24/7 – 150
WAYS TO DO IT RIGHT” by Jim Burgett. The impact of this book will be
far-reaching as we use it for a book review exercise during the
Teacher Institute August 19th. I encourage you to ask
any employee how the information in the book has affected their view
of educating kids.
Please join us in changing
lives and creating miracles during the 2009-2010 school year.
Sincerely,
Jerome Pankey
